Alvin Lam

Alvin is a native of San Francisco but has never worked in San Francisco, at least until he joined Strandberg Engineering.  He graduated from UC Davis and started working in the construction industry as a reinforcing steel detailer for a concrete contractor.  After a few years, Alvin realized his passion lies in the design of structures and received his master’s degree from San Jose State University.

After graduating with his master’s degree, Alvin joined a structural engineering firm specializing in cold-formed steel framing design.  Working primarily with contractors, he developed a design philosophy incorporating constructability and cost-effectiveness while understanding the client’s needs.  Alvin’s experience includes designing cold-formed steel structures, exterior cladding support, and industrial cranes.

In his free time, Alvin loves to annoy his friends with his weirdness and read random facts about animals.
